CIO-Konect Sets the Stage for a New Era of Strategic Tech Leadership

The inaugural CIO-Konect event, hosted on 22 May 2025 at the Adapt IT Auditorium in Midrand, marked a powerful step forward in uniting and amplifying the voice of South Africa’s technology leaders. Created by Konecta, the event is more than a networking platform — it is a leadership movement backed by two of the most influential organisations in the ICT space: the Council for Chartered CIOs (C-CIO Council) and Adapt IT.
CIO-Konect is more than a networking forum — it’s a leadership platform designed to shape the future of digital transformation in South Africa and beyond. With the C-CIO Council providing strategic insight and Adapt IT offering executive support and infrastructure, the event created a unique environment for high-level engagement and future-ready thinking.
“AI will not be successful if not implemented bi-directional,” said John Bosco Arends, Chairperson of the C-CIO Council. “The future lies in using AI to level the playing field for all.”
The C-CIO Council, as Africa’s first professional body for CIO certification and leadership development, ensured that the event offered more than conversation — it delivered action and impact. Meanwhile, Adapt IT’s involvement brought both the space and intellectual input needed to amplify the event’s success.
“AI increases efficiency, yes,” said Billy Mabena, Sales and Marketing Director at Adapt IT. “But we must also ask — what is the human side of this technology?”
